Teresa Mc Gilloway Perpetual Cup
On Friday 23rd June at the P7 Leavers' Assembly the Teresa Mc Gilloway Prepetual Cup was awarded to the P7 pupil who had made an Outstanding Contribution to School Life while in St Jarlath's P.S. Teresa taught in our school from 1979 to 2010 and lost a long and bravely fought battle with cancer on 14th June. As a mark of her love for St Jarlath's and its families Teresa's husband Joseph and her close family members wanted to put in place an everlasting legacy for Teresa. Teresa loved children and loved learning. She was the embodiment of a good friend, had great understanding and empathy for all people and most of all believed the education should include "fun". These were the qualities which the staff of St Jarlath's looked for when choosing the first ever winner of Teresa's cup. The cup was awarded by Teresa's two nieces Emma and Lisa on Friday to Caitlin in P7. Lisa thanked all of the family of St Jarlaths' for remembering Teresa in their prayers during her illness.
Well done Caitlin.
