St Jarlath's Investigate the Solar Eclipse
20th Mar 2015
The pupils of St Jarlath's investigated the Solar Eclipse that took place on March 20th. Primary 7 pupil Niall Mallon spent time explaining the dynamics of the cosmic phenomenon to his peers with the use of a gym ball and two smaller footballs.
We also discovered safe ways in which to view the extraordinary happening, using a colander and a paper plate. In the playground we witnessed the morning becoming dark and significantly colder. Unfortunately the clouds hindered our experience. We will have to wait another eleven years before a similar experience will occur.
