P2 working on weight and comparing mass
27th Jan 2023
Primary 2 got hands on with the weighing scales this week. The children firstly looked at the various times we use weight in our lives, the children provided some amazing examples; like when we go to the gym we have to pick a weight that we can lift, or when we bake we use weight in our recipes, or when a baby is born it is weighed regularly to see that it is growing. The boys and girls then compared mass using mathematical language for example the sharpener is ‘lighter’ than the chair. During playtime the boys and girls used items in the classroom to compare their weight and discovered that when two items balance the scales it meant that they weighed the same. Well done Primary 2.
