Farewell to Ms Smyth
On Wednesday 21st June the community of St Jarlath’s PS bade farewell to Ms Smyth who has been a teacher in our school since 1988. The day began with the most beautiful End of Year Mass and in the afternoon a special assembly and presentation took place to Ms Smyth. Former members of staff, Board of Governor members, past and present parents attended.
Ms Smyth was presented with the following gifts from parents, pupils, governors and staff;
A framed and signed Armagh jersey which was presented by past pupil and Armagh panel member Justin Kieran
An olive tree presented by our eldest pupil, Mickey
Flowers presented by Mrs Vallelly, longest serving teaching colleague
An engraved Newbridge clock presented by past pupil and current colleague Rose Keenan
£700 presented by Barry Kelly, chairperson of the Board of Governors
Mrs Loughran would like to thank the staff and pupils of St Jarlath’s who all worked so hard to make the day a great success. I would also like to thank Leo and Rosa’s mum for the beautiful table arrangements. Special thanks to Aimee in P6 who sang a beautiful version of ‘There’s one fair county in Ireland ’ at very short notice!
